I Know This Place Like the Back of my Head

During the coldest period of the winter in 2026, the ideas for this project started to emerge. Feelings of isolation and discomfort, thoughts of being locked out from the world surrounding me, started to appear from the comfort of something that should feel safe and protecting; ones own home, fading away. The exhibition consists of photographs taken in the attic of my home, a place that is just as much a part of the house, but is completely foreign and separated from the rest of the home. A physical dissociation from everyday life, confined in the same walls that provide the safety of a home. There is only one world, the one that hosts every life that we know of and everything that has ever existed. Even though this world is humanities only home, it can feel very strange, foreign and uncertain. Through these photographs I aim to express the feeling of being an alien in a place that should feel welcoming and comfortable, and simultaneously question how something so familiar can at the same time feel so estranged.
